External Department Gen 2020
Stories of Thousands young people that we engage, hundreds partners that we raised, thirty five Leaders, twenty six local chapters, three departments, and one ambition.
One year ago, I was really nervous and afraid at the same time to lead the new generation of the external department.
I still remember the first time that we met, at the national election conference. I realized that there was fear, to open up — to lend trust to new leaders, commission mates, and also I was terrified as well.
But, I knew when we had our commission time, we started to open ourselves little by little. Do you still remember? we used almost one session to discuss commission buddy announcement, commission name selection, and get to know each other, and we started laughing together.
I saw that there is a chance and willingness to make our organization more relevant and significant towards our society.
And in February, we had our second physical meeting — back office summit. Back office summit was tense but I was glad to be able to meet a whole external department in person.
Do you still remember that we walked from Kebon Jati to Braga? we were chanting like we are doing Walk4SDGs hahaha. And when we arrived at Braga, we started our bonding night! I still remember how happy we were back then.
After Back Office summit finished, I was really sure that we are ready with our plan — to strengthening our brand organization through purposeful partnership.
But, when we were ready to implement all the strategies that have been made, and covid-19 happened.
I still remember the exact feeling when each one of you asked me:
“Kak Ichi, what we supposed to do”
“Media is starting to approach us, what should we tell?”
“I received the announcement that our university will get lockdown”
But amongst all the chaos that happened, I still feel blessed because you guys were really communicative and collaborative towards the unexpected condition.
Even though unexpected things happened along our journey, but you guys made up until today, until 31st January 2021. I couldn’t be more proud of you — with your brand activation, strategic alliances, stakeholder management, a partnership that you made, and the leadership that you developed.
Finally, I want to say to all of you — Gen 2020 external department, congratulations you made this far, you owned this experience, you successfully carried the responsibilities. Last but not least, I want to say
“I wish you very good luck never stop being extramiles.”
Yours sincerely,
